Our Mission

Sports Camp exists to spread the gospel by imparting God’s Word to young people in the context of playing sport.

We Aim:

to glorify and honour God in everything we do at Sports Camp (1 Cor 10:31; Rom 15:5-6).

to evangelise the unsaved represented at camp (including both campers and referees) (Matt 28:18-20).

to challenge and mature the Christian young people in the teams so they can grow in their walk with the Lord and be a witness to the unsaved in their team and in other teams (Eph 4:12-15; 1 Peter 3:15).

to come alongside team leaders to encourage and support them in their youth leadership roles (Heb 10:24-25).

to provide a safe and sporting environment where, sportsmanship and participation is encouraged.

By:

faithfully preaching the gospel using the living and active Word of God.

corporately worshipping God through music and songs that glorify Him both in content and delivery.

encouraging team leaders in God’s Word and in prayer, in order to promote a unified goal and purpose.

providing opportunities for Riverbend Bible Church to interact with campers and share the gospel one-on-one.

providing opportunities for Riverbend Bible Church and other helpers to serve during Sports Camp, thereby modelling a selfless servant heart.

maintaining a Christlike testimony in all aspects of planning and hosting Sports Camp.

WHY Kids Camp?

Riverbend Bible Church’s Kids Camp is designed for 7 year olds up to Year 8 students who are looking for a fun filled holiday camp.  These camps aim to give children a space to enjoy their school holidays while also helping them grow personally, mentally and spiritually.

The Bible teaches that children are a blessing from the Lord (Psalm 127:3).  Therefore, we value children and want to provide a fun and safe place where they can enjoy learning from the Bible, playing games, getting to know others, and a whole bunch of other exciting camp activities. God has blessed us here at Riverbend, with the facilities and the means to run a Kids Camp and in turn we would like to bless others through this ministry.

WHAT happens at Kids Camp?

Over the course of a week there will be wide range of activities to keep the kids entertained along with classic camp craziness and  a whole bunch of weird and wonderful games.  All dressed up in this year’s Medieval Theme.

Camp will include activities such as: Swimming, archery, shooting, 10-pin bowling, human foosball, boat building, obstacle course, a canteen and of course a medieval fair!

On top of that, we’ll have a fun and interactive time of Bible teaching each day and a great team of leaders here to help look after the kids throughout the week.

FBI Holiday Programme

What is FBI?

The FBI programme began in October 2013. By God’s goodness, we ended up with 20-30 children from the local community. The following year we decided to continue on with a series of “FBI – Faithful Bible Investigator” programmes in each of the April, July and October holidays. Families came, friendships were built and by the end of that year, “FBI” stuck as the name for the holiday programme. Holiday Programme themes we have had over the years include FBI Superheroes, FBI Cops ‘n robbers, FBI Super Science, FBI Olympics, FBI Midwinter Christmas and numerous others.

In October 2020 we celebrated our 20th FBI holiday program. We have now developed our ministry to have a camp in the April school holidays and FBI continuing on in July and October school holidays. Kids have grown up through these programmes – some who started as cute 7-year-olds are now our faithful teenage leaders.

Each day at FBI we have games, morning tea, songs, Bible memory verse challenges and Bible stories which show how the Bible is relevant for our lives today. This is accompanied by things like puppets, creative teaching times, serial stories, object lessons, drama, dress-up competitions and other sorts of fun, depending on the week. We have around 50 children come each time, many who keep coming back because they love it so much.

Please join us for upcoming programmes!
